ASUU strike need not continue, President Jonathan says

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday said there was no need for the Academic Staff Union of Universities to continue with their industrial action. Jonathan said this at the inauguration of the Federal Government sponsored-Transformation Projects at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). Represented by Prof. Ruqayyat Rufai, the Minister of Education, the president said N30 billion had been released for the payment of earned allowances in all public universities. President Jonathan hails NASS on passing 2013 budget, seven months into the year

With only five months left in the year, the National Assembly has finally passed the amended 2013 Budget, a move for which President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed gratitude. Fatal car accident claims President Jonathan’s mother-in-law

President Goodluck Jonathan’s mother-in-law is dead. Mrs. Iwari-Oba, mother of First Lady Patience Jonathan died on Monday in an auto accident in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The fatal accident occurred along Elele road at about 4 p.m. Vanguard reports that Mrs. Iwari-Oba was on her way to Bayelsa State at the itme of the accident.
