123 people dead, 700 more injured in Bangladesh building collapse (SAPA)

Dhaka (SAPA) – Rescuers in Bangladesh have recovered at least 123 bodies from the rubble of a collapsed eight-storey building that housed mostly garment factories on Wednesday, officials said. Many more were still trapped in the remains of the building, located outside Dhaka, which also contained shops and offices, police said. “We have received 123 bodies from the rescuers so far. Noise makers in Nigeria face one-year jail term, fine – NESREA

NAN – The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) says it is now ready to enforce a regulation, making noise a criminal offence punishable with imprisonment or fine or both. The Coordinator of the agency in Osun, Mr Olanrewaju Anjorin, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo on Tuesday that a 2009 gazette gave NESREA the legal cover. Teen drowns in Lagos river – NEMA

Sahara Reporters – A teenager and JSS2 student of Ikosi High school in Lagos drowned in the Oniyanri river in Owode-Ikorodu area of Lagos. According to National Emergency Management Agency operatives, 15-year old Feyipitan Owonifari drowned around 10: 30 AM Nigerian time, but help did not reach his grief-stricken family until 4:30PM after his mother successfully reached NEMA and the merchant Navy. Residents of Isolo street in Akure formed a small search party on Tuesday to find a 90-year-old man who they say was kidnapped on his way to the neighborhood mosque for early morning prayers. Asaba couple arrested for selling their twin babies for N200,000 each

A couple in Asaba have been arrested for allegedly selling their new born twins for N200,000 each, Vanguard reports. Delta state police confirmed that the parents, father Augustine Agbona and his wife, Ebere, were arrested on Sunday after they attempted to sell off their twin infants to a child trafficker.
