Amnesty International condemns killing of female journalist in Nigeria

Human rights group, Amnesty International has condemned the killing of a female journalist in Nigeria, describing it as “barbaric and inhumane”. Aisha Usman, a reporter with vernacular magazine Mahangar Arewa, in Zaria, Kaduna, was killed by unknown persons and her mutilated remains were found last Wednesday on Kwangila highway. At least 10 people are feared dead in Addu village in Kaduna State after an attack by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers. This Day Newspaper reports that village located in the Attakar Chiefdom was attacked by about 20 gunmen. Unknown gunmen have killed a Nigerian army captain in Kaduna State, reports have said. According to Sahara Reporters, the gunmen attacked the army official in Birnin Gwari, in the northwestern part of the state. The brutal murders of 19 people in Kaura local government area on Saturday in Kaduna was over the alleged poisoning of two cows, reports have said. Zaria – A 44-year-old butcher at Tudun Wada Market in Zaria, Kaduna State, Tanko Maitsiren-Safe, has stabbed himself to death.
