Nigeria loses N125billion annually to medical tourism

NAN – The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) said on Sunday that Nigeria was losing some $800 million (about N125 billion) annually to medical tourism. The National President of the NMA, Dr Osahon Enabulele, made the announcement in Sokoto at a news conference at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association. Train kills 35 pilgrims in India (VIDEO)

A tragic train accident has killed at least 35 pilgrims in India, reports have said. The Associated Press reports that the train ran over a group of Hindu pilgrims at a crowded station in Dhamara Ghat, in eastern India on Monday. Come November, Nigerians visiting the UK could face paying a £3,000 “security bond” before they are allowed into Britain. The controversial scheme, headed by Home Secretary Theresa May, is to deter visitors from overstaying their visas. Another shocking crime of deadly sexual assault has hit the nation of India. Police in the country are on the hunt for men suspected of raping and killing three sisters, aged 5 to 11, according to the Associated Press. The bodies of the sisters were found in a village well in Bhandara district in Maharashtra state on 14 February after they had gone missing from school. A Bombay high court has freed a Nigerian woman serving time in an Indian jail for allegedly possessing 105g of cocaine. The Times of India reported that the woman, Temitope Oladimeji, 40, was released on a technicality in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. A man who describes himself as a “spiritual guru” angered many in India when he said the 23-year-old gang rape victim who died after she was brutally assaulted by six men was in part responsible for the attack.
