Four arrested Boko Haram suspects die in custody

Four alleged Boko Haram members died in custody shortly after they were arrested, military officials said on Sunday, according to the Associated Press. A Nigerian security official, the report said, confirmed the arrest of 11 members of the sect in Michika town in Adamawa state. They were arrested with the aid of vigilante group, the Civilian Joint Task Force. A commanding officer said on Sunday that six of the suspects were taken to Maiduguri and five others kept in Mubi. Defence Headquarters to monitor civilian JTF closely

Nigeria’s defence ministry has vowed to monitor closely the activities of anti-Boko Haram vigilante group, the civilian Joint Task Force in Borno State. Spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade, told Punch Newspaper that the ministry is concerned about the increase in growth of the civilian JTF as well as recent attacks on members of the vigilante group by the Boko Haram sect. Six more civilian JTF killed in Borno

Local media reported on Tuesday that another six young vigilantes were killed in Damask town in Borno State on Monday night in a suspected Boko Haram attack. According to the Daily Post, the victims were between 20 and 36 years old and were all members of the Civilian Joint Task Force group. News agencies report that residents are fleeing the troubled town of Konduga in Borno State after suspected Boko Haram gunment attacked worshippers in a mosque, killing dozens of people.
