Convicted child rapists hanged in Iran

Tehran – Three convicted rapists were publicly hanged in the Fars province in south Iran, the ISNA news agency reported on Monday. The three men had kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old boy in the provincial capital Shiraz, the report said. They were publicly hanged on Sunday in the city of Jadid Sadr after the Supreme Court confirmed their death verdicts, ISNA added. The 22-year old woman who was bathed with acid by her fiancé died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital early on Thursday morning, the Punch reported. Chika Egbo died six weeks after the man she was set to marry and the father of her child, David Sulaimon, on November 5 attacked her, leaving her without the use of her nose, eyes and mouth. Five men arraigned for assaulting a nurse

The Police on Wednesday arraigned five men before an Abuja Magistrates’ Court on a three-count charge of joint act, assault and disturbance. Police prosecutor Luka Ephriam gave the names of the accused as Ekeh Henry, Agbalusia Obi, Eneoli Nnachetani, Ifeanyi Odumegwu and Michael Ogedemgbe. Mother and 3 children sentenced to six months for assaulting landlord

NAN – An Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 44-year-old woman, Mrs Helen Nwokobia and her three children to six months imprisonment each for assaulting their landlord. The children are Chukwudi Nwokobia, 20, Emeka Nwokobia, 17 and Ify Nwokobia, 23. The court, however, gave the convicts an option of N2, 000 as fine each.
