Arik Air stowaway denied access to his family; is the teenager unlawfully detained?

The State Security Service has released Arik Air teenage stowaway, Daniel Ohikhena, into the custody of Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. Ohikhena, 15, has been in SSS custody in Lagos since he hitched a flight from Benin to Lagos in the wheel well of an Arik Air aircraft two weeks ago. Since his arrest the teenager has been denied access to his family and while he is back in his home state, security officials are still keeping Daniel away from his family. 10 people feared dead in Kaduna village as bandits attack

At least 10 people are feared dead in Addu village in Kaduna State after an attack by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers. This Day Newspaper reports that village located in the Attakar Chiefdom was attacked by about 20 gunmen. The assailants reportedly raided the village in the early hours of Monday and opened fire on villagers. Defence Headquarters to monitor civilian JTF closely

Nigeria’s defence ministry has vowed to monitor closely the activities of anti-Boko Haram vigilante group, the civilian Joint Task Force in Borno State. Spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade, told Punch Newspaper that the ministry is concerned about the increase in growth of the civilian JTF as well as recent attacks on members of the vigilante group by the Boko Haram sect. Fake CNN journalists arrested in Bayelsa

A fake CNN correspondent was arrested in Nigeria after he was caught extorting money from politicians in exchange for interviews in Bayelsa state. Paul Yempe, the faux CNN news man was outed by a member of the local branch of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ. According to reports published by the Daily News, Yempe had approached the state’s energy commissioner to solicit an interview for an alleged CNN documentary. Six more civilian JTF killed in Borno

Local media reported on Tuesday that another six young vigilantes were killed in Damask town in Borno State on Monday night in a suspected Boko Haram attack. According to the Daily Post, the victims were between 20 and 36 years old and were all members of the Civilian Joint Task Force group.
