Newly minted political party, the All Progressives Party (APC) is doing its level best to woo Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, a member of the opposing People’s Democratic Party.
Sahara Reporters reports that the key members of the APC arrived Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, in hopes of tempting Gov. Amaechi to decamp from the PDP and join forces with APC.
It shouldn’t be a difficult feat. Amaechi has been on the outs with ruling party PDP for many months now and his rift with President Goodluck Jonathan, leading man of the PDP, is public knowledge.
While Amaechi had said repeatedly that he had no intention of leaving his party, images captured from his rather large meeting with APC leaders show the Rivers State governor warming up to the opposition party.
A crowd gathered at the Garden City to welcome the APC team led by the national leader Bola Tinubu, former CPC presidential candidate Muhammad Buhari, and Chief Bisi Akande. Amaechi was present for the rousing rally on the grounds of the government house in Port Harcourt.
