President Jonathan urges Eaglets to “stay focused” and bring home the cup

Sure, many Nigerian soccer fans are thrilled by the Eaglets’ 3-nil victory over their Swedish opponents, but no more excited than Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan who is urging the Golden Eaglets to bring home the gold.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, President Jonathan congratulated the under-17 team on their win on Tuesday evening at the Al-Rashid stadium in Dubai, UAE.

The 3-0 victory over the Swedes means the Golden Eaglets will face the Mexico in a Group F match up.

President Jonathan has some tips for the Eaglets. He warns against over-confidence, taking victory for granted and urges them to “stay focused, train well and deploy their full arsenal of strength, determination and artistry once again to ensure that they overcome the Mexicans once again and return home with the Under-17 World Cup.”
