20 people feared dead, 10 injured in Borno State

At least 20 people are feared dead in the turbulent northeast Borno state, unofficial reports have said.

Witnesses cited by the Vanguard say gunmen launched an attack on residents in Logomani village in Dikwa LGA, leaving 20 people dead and injuring 10 others.

Dikwa is some 65km from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State and heartland of the violent Boko Haram terrorist sect.

A resident identified as Bukar Alhaji Gana in the Vanguard told reporters that the attack may be linked to the Boko Haram sect. He said members of the sect have returned to a camp in Marte area, which was previously destroyed by the Joint Task Force at the height of the emergency rule in Borno State.

Gana said members of the sect “warned some people” in the community about their return to their former camp in Marte.
