Parents dump their children in a stream on witch’s orders

A court in Bauchi State is set to try four suspects who allegedly dumped two male children, a two year old and a four year old, in a stream.

State police say two of the suspects are parents of the children who were abandoned in Dumi Stream. It is not clear if the children are related or if they were simply victimized at the same time. The two year old victim, Adamu Danjuma, survived the horrific attack, but his four-year old Aliyu Haruna drowned and died in the stream.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Amos Ukpe, said the parents of the boys were accompanied by a woman called Sakina Ibrahim from Dajin Village who practices witchcraft and had convinced the parents of the boys that their children were “not normal human beings”.

Sakina advised them to dump them in the stream so that they will drown , a bizarre and heinous plan which the parents agreed to, the Vanguard reports.

Inspector Ukpe said: “When the herbalist in company of the parents took the children and dumped them inside stream in Dumi village, one of the children, Adamu Suleiman Danjuma (two years) survived and was rescued by good Samaritans while the other boy, Aliyu Suleiman Haruna (four years old) got drowned and died in the stream.”

Ukpe plans to file separate charges against sorceress Sakina, charging her with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. The parents of the boys will face charges of criminal conspiracy and abandonment.
