Former Mo’Hit Records mates, Michael “Don Jazzy” Collins and D’banj were spotted recently performing together and smiling for the cameras for the first time since their explosive break up in March 2012, sparking rumors that the pair could have plans kiss and make up… professionally speaking.

Don Jazzy attended the wedding party of D’banj’s younger sister to Cool FM’s Dotun on Saturday at the Grandeur Event Center in Ikeja.

D’banj and Don Jazzy further thrilled fans and wedding guests when they took to the stage to serenaded the newly wed couple with some of their classic hits, including “Mr. Endowed”, “Suddenly” and “Fall in Love”.

Now the CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy formerly headed Mo’Hits when he first created these popular hits with his star performer D’banj.

When D’banj left the Mo’Hit fold for Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, it was a heartbreaking split for Nigerian music lovers and ended in the sure death of Mo’Hits.

Don Jazzy birthed an all new label months after the break up and signed up four top artists in the Nigerian music scene – Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid and D’Prince. Their debut “Solar Plexus” album was well received.

D’banj has also moved on to release other tracks with G.O.O.D. Music and under his own DB Records label. However, their individual works post-break up have always been compared to their work together and often found wanting.

So the possibility of Don Jazzy and D’banj repairing their broken professional relationship would be most welcome by the fans.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens there; but for now, we’ll choose to see the performance on Saturday as a step in the right direction.
