One killed, fifteen injured as ocean surge sweeps Kuramo community

NAN – One person has been confirmed dead and 15 others missing after an ocean surge sacked Kuramo community in Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday.

The surge swept through the shanty around 2a.m when residents were sleeping.

The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Femi Oke-Osayintolu, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.

He said a search was on for other bodies.

Mr. Akin Batode, a resident of a beachfront community, said the problem was compounded by ship wrecks at Alpha Beach.
