One domestically challenged resident learned a hard lesson on Monday when he attempted to dry off his socks and boxer shorts by tossing them into the microwave and nearly burning his apartment down.

A news agency reported that British firefighters saved the apartment from destruction, but were alas unable to save the microwave appliance or the boxer shorts and socks inside it.

According to reports, the incident caused smoke damage to the apartment in Weymouth, a town on England’s south-west coast.

“The fire safety message here is to never put clothing of any kind in the microwave or an oven to attempt to dry them,” the fire service said.
