As expected by many, it was an easy game for the US men’s basketball Olympic team who dominated Nigeria in a 156 to 73 point victory during Thursday’s game.
The “big and bad” US Olympic team not only won with an impressive 83 point lead, but also set the Olympic record for most points scored in a single game. By the end of the second quarter, the team had already scored 78 points and had sealed 100 points with only five minutes left in the third quarter.
US team player, Carmelo Anthony, scored 37 points and set the American Olympic record for points scored in a game in less than three quarters.
Andre Iguodala’s 3-pointer, with less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter, brought the American’s score to 139 points, surpassing the Olympic record of 138 points set by Brazil against Egypt in 1988.
Their winning margin of 83 points beat their previous best of 72 against Thailand – a 101-29 win in 1956.
