Lagos brothel deserted after regular visitor is murdered

T&K International Hotel in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, a hotbed for prostitution and all other manner of debauchery has become uncharacteristically deserted after a murder at the infamous brothel caused police to shut down the premises.

According to the Punch, both prostitutes and their patronizers were no where to be found after the Tuesday murder of a man named Jereke, a regular caller at the hotel.

Authorities suspect that the commercial bus driver was poisoned. He reportedly drank some alcohol and went to sleep at the brothel. It is not clear if he solicited the services of any of the sex workers that night, but it is certain that it was his last night there.

Jereke was found dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning. One resident said occupants of T&K were awoken by a loud sound.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the resident said that when they asked where the sound came from, they were informed a customer had died at the brothel.

“When we went in, we saw the deceased in a pool of blood. Blood gushed out of his mouth. It looked as if he was poisoned.”

The resident said the bloodied corpse of the once regular customer was carried out of the brothel.

“I do not know where they took him to,” he added.

One resident, who gave her name as Uchenna, said Jereke had died in his room. Others, familiar with the regular customer said he was a resident of Iyana Oba and often visited the brothel after work.

Some have denied rumors that he died having sex. Police officials are yet to comment on the case.
