Smoking drivers in Lagos will be fined

TRM – People who are convicted of smoking while driving in Lagos state, Nigeria, will be liable to a fine of NGN20,000, according to an Information Nigeria story.

The smoking provision was included in a new traffic law recently passed by the state House of Assembly and forwarded to the governor, Babatunde Fashola, for signature.

Amongst other provisions, the new traffic law stipulates that a first offence involving driving against traffic, popularly known as one way driving, will incur a one year jail term and the forfeiture of the vehicle to the state government.
