Heavy rains and flooding have displaced some residents of the Ibadan metropolis, reports said.
According to reports, the rains which started on Saturday evening and persisted well into Sunday caused major damage to residents at Challenge, Oke-Ayo and Eleyele.
People living in these affected areas were foxed to abandon their homes to avoid losing their lives in the floods.
As at 4 p.m. on Sunday, the rains continued, restricting movement in the area. Some bridges were destroyed by the rainstorm.
The Vanguard reported that a Mercedes Benz vehicle fell into a stream in the Mokola area after a bridge gave way.
Areas worst hit included Apete and a link road that leads to Army Barracks and Sabo, the Vanguard reported.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Bosun Oladele, said there was no casualty as a result of the flooding, but added that some structures will have to be demolished as a result of rainstorm.
Oladele said: “It seems as if we are driving the water, it is finding its way. Some of the structures that were not marked for demolition before were being exposed and the government would have no choice than to continue with the demolition. But, on the whole, we thank God that no casualty was recorded.”
