Officials have confirmed that an unknown number of people have been killed in gun attacks in Plateau state on Saturday.
According to agency reports, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked Kankuru village in Riyom near the capital city of Jos.
The attack happened at about 7:00 a.m. this morning, officials in the area said.
Military special task force spokesman, Salisu Mustapha, told the AFP that casualties from the attack are yet unknown.
He said the suspected Fulani herdsmen had attacked the village armed with guns and machetes, unleashing their deadly attack.
However, Mustapha assures that his men are now on ground and will restore law and order. Plateau state police spokesman, Emmanuel Abuh says his men are also on ground.
Meanwhile, massive explosions and gunfire were heard in restive Yobe state, the site of several recent attacks by Boko Haram insurgents.
Residents reported hearing huge explosions and gunshots in the area already under a dusk to dawn curfew.
One resident told the AFP that the explosions and shootings lasted for two hours.
