Wizkid is “thankful”; the top entertainer wins big at 2012 BET Awards

Top Nigerian entertainer, Ayo Balogun, popularly known by his stage name, Wizkid, won big last night at the international BET 2012 awards.

The “Don’t Dull” star tied with Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie to win the Best International Act award. Wizkid, signed with EME, as well as Sarkodie, were up against some serious competition, all vying for the award.

Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, Kenyan Hip-Hop/R&B group Camp Mulla, South African singer, Lira and French speaking Malian rapper Mokobe were the other nominees in the coveted African category.

Shortly after receiving the award at The Shrine in Los Angeles on Sunday, Wizkid reacted to his win on Twitter, with a short and simple “Thankful”.

Hours later, the singer thanked his fans for their support and promised to keep right on entertaining.

“Big shoutout to Every1 that has supported me till date! God bless u all big Time..I’m not stopping!”

The Wizkid/Sarkodie tie is not a first in the BET Awards; last year D’Banj and 2Face tied to receive the award in the same category.
