Lagos businessman kidnapped, police in pursuit of perps

Unidentified gunmen reportedly stormed a Lagos suburb over the weekend, opening fire in the area before kidnapping wealthy businessman Eze Anthony in his residence in Igando.

According to eye witness reports, Anthony had mistaken his abductors for robbers, offering to give them whatever they wanted. However, the gunmen wanted Anthony, an oil and gas staff, who was quickly seized and whisked away before the police arrived. Rapid Response officers, joined by Igando’s anti-robbery team and other security personnel arrived the scene of the crime a little late.

No ransom call has been made as yet, the Vanguard reported, but the police assures they are hot on the trail of the perpetrators. Kidnapping is a lucrative crime in Africa’s most populous country, with many victims returned safely to their families in exchange for millions.
